After its first successful year, VegFest is back.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, VegFest will be held in East Park in Allegheny Commons. Leila Sleiman, co-founder of the event, said last year she believes there were over 4,000 people in attendance and expects a larger turnout for 2016.

This year there will be over 75 vendors, and the first 250 people in line when VegFest begins will receive a gift bag with over $100 worth of goods from event sponsors. There will also be activities for kids, such as a crafts table and a bounce castle.

“First and foremost, this is a free and fun family event,” Sleiman said. “It’s a celebration for a compassionate lifestyle, and for people looking to learn something new.”

Sleiman and fellow co-founder Natalie Fristick are also the founders of Justice for Animals.
