Captain Jeffrey S. Coran, Commanding Officer of the Steel City NROTC, will preside over the ceremony. Other guests will include Al Singleman, National commander, United States Submarine veterans; Huey Dietrich, Host Base (Requin Base) Commander; Commander Leon McClain, Commanding Officer United States Coast Guard Safety Unit; Commander John Calvert, Commanding Officer Navy Recruiting District Pittsburgh; Craig Frangente, Commanding Officer Navy Operational Support Center; Senior Chief Robert McQuery, USCG CGC Osage; and Lieutenant commander Rick Elster, (ret.) The Memorial Service is part of the annual, week-long Submariners Convention, which provides submariners an opportunity to unite with their fellow shipmates and submariners from other boats. During this time of fellowship, veterans are afforded the opportunity to remember and recognize those who have given their lives in the pursuit of their duties while serving their country.
