Thursday June 21
What:Cave Canem Reading
When:7:30 p.m.
Where: 1410 Monterey Street.

The Central Northside will have poetry in the streets this weekend with a special City of Asylum reading brought to the neighborhood by Cave Canem. Authors Nikky Finney, Thomas Sayers Ellis, Angela Jackson and Terrence Hayes will read their work outdoors in a tent being put up for the event. Seating is free, but reservations may be made by contacting Laura Mustio at or 412-321-2190.

What: June Al Fresco Wine Tasting
Where: The Priory
The Priory in Historic Deutschtown will offer outdoor wine tasting with a special guest, the winemakes of The Wine Stash wines, from Napa Valley, California tonight.  These are the first time Winestash will be tasting wines in Pennsylvania.  The wine hosts are Tim Seabolt, one of the winery’s owners who lives in Pittsburgh’s North Hills, and his partner Alex Hutnik, who makes the wine in Napa.

These start up winemakers offer innovative and provocative wines which have yet to be seen in the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania  Guests will be tasting, 2009 Winestash Rose, 2010 Whitel Blend (Roussanne, Vignonier, Sauvignon Blanc), 2009 Cabernet Sauvigno and 2009 Red Blend (Syrah, Zinfandel, Petite Syrah)

Tickets are $55 per person and the wines will be accompanied by heavy hors d’oeuvres by Priory executive chefs Mike Henney and Pete Phillipy.  Singer-songwriter Angel Foss will provide entertainment for the evening.

Saturday June 23

What:Buhl Park grand opening
When: All Day
Where: The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh will open the new park in Allegheny Center this weekend with a public celebration. They’ll kick off Saturday with free admission to the museum sponsored by the Jack Buncher Foundation, acrobat performances by New York City-based performers Cirque-tacular, performances by the River City Brass Quintet and a Special Park Dedication at noon.
