With the recent wintry weather, it is never too early to look ahead at warmer weather, just don’t forget to keep a little slice of the winter snowfall for the Carnegie Science Center’s “Snowball Day” event.
The annual outing encourages participants to save a snowball in their freezers and then bring it to the Science Museum on June 20, the official first day of summer. In addition, participants can “name their own price” of admission before launching their preserved snowballs into the Ohio River.
Last year, hundreds of snowballs were salvaged in coolers, coffee cans and freezer bags to be shared in the event, which helps educate visitors on the biology of a snowflake and study of meteorology and weather.
