Northside Counts! 2020 Census

Fall is finally here in the City of Pittsburgh, which means it’s time to wear boots, watch football, and sip on hot apple cider! This year, East Allegheny will be hosting its annual Pumpkinfest on October 8th, Brightwood will be hosting its 25th annual Pumpkinfest on October 22nd, and Brighton Heights will be hosting a Halloween Parade and Fall Festival on October 29th! These events are only a few examples of many Northside festivities this October, with others in Spring Hill (Halloween Parade, October 22nd) and throughout the City. Keep your eyes open for jack-o-lanterns and scarecrows throughout the City as we welcome the new season!

The cool weather of autumn is a telltale sign that it’s time to prepare an emergency response kit for the winter to come. In case of any emergencies that may arise in the winter months, please take some time to compile supplies that you may need in the event of a power outage or inclement winter weather. Being prepared now may save you a lot of fear and trouble in the future, and emergency response kits should include blankets, flashlights, batteries, food, and bottled water.

Along similar lines, keeping your pets safe in the fall and winter is equally important. The cold weather affects our beloved furry friends sometimes more than it affects us, and it is important to keep this in mind as the leaves start to fall. Don’t forget to put out adequate water for your pets, and ensure that they do not get too cold during chilly morning walks or evening Frisbee games.

Enjoy the autumn weather, and never hesitate to contact me at my office with any questions or concerns at 412-255-2135, or by email at darlene.harris@pittsburghpa.gov.
