Mayor Bill Peduto stopped by Penn Brewery on Thursday evening to connect with residents and to mingle with Northside Northshore Chamber of Commerce members.

The Face-to-Face Social Networking Event warmly welcomed the mayor to the Northside and allowed him to share his vision for the city.

Mayor Peduto told those in attendance that he believes Pittsburgh is in a very interesting place right now.

“This is the first time I get to see our city grow,” Peduto said.

The mayor discussed the four keys focus areas for revitalizing the city as a whole, which included housing, education, neighborhood businesses and entrepreneurs, and non-profit organizations.

Looking at the Northside now, Peduto said the neighborhoods have “all the components for greatness” and that this is the time to make things happen.

Peduto said this is the time for the “renaissance of neighborhoods, not skyscrapers.”

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Robin Miller said she thought the event was great and that “the new mayor has some pretty good insight on improving the quality of life for people who live and work [in Pittsburgh].”

She also noted there being a lot of new faces in the crowd and that the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm about the Northside.
