War Streets to be featured in new romantic comedy

The Mexican War Streets will host a movie production crew in a few weeks, according to the movie’s publicist and Dawn Keezer, director of the Pittsburgh Film Office.

The movie, “Love & Other Drugs,” is directed by Edward Zwick — known for “Glory” and “Legends of the Fall” — and stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway.

Keezer said that Zwick will take the crew all over Pittsburgh between Sept. 21 and Dec. 1, including the Mexican War Streets historic district in the Central Northside.

“Love & Other Drugs” is based on the book "Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman" by Jamie Reidy, in which the author writes about his experiences as a sales representative for drug manufacturing giant Pfizer.

Charles Randolph wrote the screenplay.

Gyllenhall will play the Pfizer sales rep, and Hathaway will play a woman with early-onset Parkinson’s disease that he meets on a sales call.

Neither Keezer nor the publicist, Scott Levine, had any information yet on why the Mexican War Streets were chosen, and they cannot release filming schedules to the public.

Nancy Mosser Casting, located in Butler, will handle extras, stand-ins, photo-doubles and silent bits for the movie. More information on casting can be found at www.mossercasting.com.

Pottersville Pictures, located in Station Square, is looking for vehicles made between 1985 and 1997. Anyone interested in having his or her car featured in the film can call Marc Scott at 412-572-5232 and leave a message.
