Neighbors, In partnership with Senator Lindsay Williams, I am happy to invite you all to our annual Shred Event on Sept. 12! Taking place at the Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, located at 160 52nd St. in Lawrenceville, community members will have the chance to get rid of excess paper in a sustainable, efficient way. The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be a limit of two boxes per vehicle.

CeaseFirePA is holding a Community Safety Forum on Gun Violence Prevention through Secure Firearm Storage Conversations and Practice on Sept. 22 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville (279 Fisk St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201). You can RSVP by visiting their website at carnegielibrary.org/clp_location/lawrenceville/

With back-to-school season in full swing, I bring good news from Harrisburg. Statewide, this year’s budget delivered $678 million in additional K-12 funding, including allocations for both basic and special education programs, school infrastructure improvements, mental health resources, and investments in closing the funding gaps in lower-wealth school districts.

As always, if you need any assistance with other state resources, do not hesitate to reach out to our office at (412) 781-2750 or email RepPowell@pahouse. net. My team also has office hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second floor of the Shaler Municipal Building every Thursday.

Be well, Lindsay Powell
