Reggae at Riverview returns for 5th year
Reggae at Riverview will make its return on Aug. 2, marking the fifth year of the annual music festival.
Held at the newly renovated Valley Refuge Shelter in Riverview Park, the family-friendly festival will run from 1-9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will feature a lineup full of reggae bands and local DJs to perform.
This year’s headline act is Milton Blake and the Royal Fyah Band. Food will also be served by various vendors, including authentic jerk chicken. Vegan options are also available.
During the festival, the Pittsburgh Park Rangers will lead a children’s hike through Riverview Park at 5 p.m.

Northside pools reopen for the summer
As school is out for the summer for Pittsburgh Public Schools students, CitiParks pools are once again open to give everybody a chance to splash and swim. These include the following Northside pools: Jack Stack in Brighton Heights, Sue Murray near Allegheny Commons and Riverview in Observatory Hill.
According to CitiParks Aquatics, Jack Stack is open for all to swim from 1-7 p.m. on weekdays, with adult lap swim from noon until 1-7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Riverview is closed Mondays and Wednesdays but otherwise has the same hours as Jack Stack.
Sue Murray is open Monday through Friday from noon until 5 p.m.
Both Jack Stack and Riverview are open weekends for all from 1-5:45 p.m., with adult lap swim from noon until 1 p.m. Sue Murray does not offer adult swim and is closed weekends.
All CitiParks pools will be open on July Fourth and Labor Day, which is the last day pools will be open according to CitiParks.
Voodoo Brewing vanishes from the North Shore
After serving up drinks for a little more than three years, Voodoo Brewing Company’s North Shore location on North Shore Drive has gone the way of the ghost and closed permanently.
Before the location’s Facebook page was deleted, Voodoo thanked customers for supporting the pub and said the decision to close was based on focusing on other parts of the business.
“This shift will allow us to improve our production, expand distribution, and support our growing network of franchise locations across the country,” the post said.
This is not the first closure for the brewery, as the Homestead location closed in 2023. The North Shore brewery closed on June 3, leaving the closest Voodoo Brewery location to Pittsburgh in New Kensington.
Summer hours, events announced for Children’s Museum

The museum will open early on July 20 for members, featuring special activities and promotions.
