November poll results reported

November has come and gone. Did you enjoy all that turkey and gravy? I’m certain many of our readers are feeling especially sleepy after such a meal.
But before we bid farewell to the last full month of fall, let’s take a moment to look back at the results of The Chronicle’s weekly polls during November.
Kicking off our November poll results is a question about October’s holiday. Halloween had just taken place, so we asked what our readers’ favorite Halloween candy was.
Chocolate was the resounding winner of this contest, garnering 80% of the sweet-tooth vote. The remaining 20% was won by gummies. In a personal disappointment to myself, candy corn received no votes (though admittedly I’m an M&M’s fan most of all).
November 2024 was the end of election season as the United States voted for the next president… as well as for senators, representatives and a ton of other elected positions. We asked if our readership remembered their civic duty and voted during the election.
Turns out all of our readers did (or at least the ones who cared to respond to the poll), but the methods by which they did varied. Half said they voted on Election Day itself, while the other half said they voted by mail or drop box. Good on your Northside for taking part in the election!
Keeping with that theme, we next asked how our readers felt about the outcome of the election. Donald Trump won the presidential race, becoming the second president in history to serve two non-consecutive terms, while Republicans took both the House and the Senate, though Democrat Summer Lee, who represents Pittsburgh in the U.S. House, won re-election, as did local state representatives Lindsay Powell, Emily Kinkead and Aerion Abney.
A total of 75% of respondents said they were “very positive” about the results, while the remaining 25% were “very negative,” giving us very polarized answers.
We dialed it back to a less serious topic for our final question. Streaming services have truly begun to dominate the entertainment industry in many ways, and there’s so many of them to subscribe to. As such, we asked our readers how many of these services they pay for.
In the end, 50% said they subscribe to only “one or two,” while the other 50% said “three to five.” Surprisingly, no one said they share accounts with other people.
That brings an end to our poll results for the month. Check in with the January issue to see the roundup of December poll results.
Remember that new polls are posted to our website every Sunday. Polls can be found along the right-hand side of any page on the website.
