March Chronicle poll results

By Sean P. Ray | Managing Editor

Another month, another batch of results from The Northside Chronicle’s online polls.

As a reminder, The Northside Chronicle posts a new poll every Sunday morning to our website, thenorthsidechronicle. com. The results of each month’s polls are reported in the following month’s print edition. So let’s check in on how all our readers voted during the month of March.

Our first poll for the month asked what spring activity you were most looking forward to. We ended up with a three-way tie on this question, with “swimming in pools,” “bike rides” and “just enjoying the warm weather” all garnering the same number of votes.

The next question was of a more serious nature. We asked which local government service you would most like to see improved on. This poll ended up being our most popular one yet, with “care for city parks and recreation facilities” coming out ahead with 44% of the vote. Tied for second with 22% each were “emergency services” and “trash collection/clean-up.” Finally, public information got 11% of the vote, while “road maintenance” got no votes. If you’ve noticed those percentages only add up to 99%, that’s due to repeating values.

Next up we asked what your favorite part of St. Patrick’s Day was in observation of the holiday taking place that week. “Wearing green” won the most votes at 50%, with “seeing the parade” and “bar crawls” both getting 25% each. Our readers are apparently not very lucky, as “four-leaf clover hunting” did not receive any votes.

We hope you remember to move your clocks forward this month, as well as voted in our final poll of March which asked whether we should stay on Daylight Savings permanently. As it turns out, most of you do. “Yes” won overwhelmingly in the poll, getting 66% of the vote. “No, we should have permanent Standard Time” got 22%. Meanwhile, only one of you voted to say we should continue switching back and forth.

We’ll be back in May with the poll results from April. Meanwhile, remember to keep checking thenorthsidechronicle. com and voting in our polls.
