This weekend in Pittsburgh’s Northside, you have a few places to celebrate International Women’s Day, including Alloy 26 and Penn Brewery, plus Jazz at Emmanuel, The Outsiders at New Hazlett Theater, and more.

Thursday, March 5

Therapy Pets International presents Therapets @ the Library

“Stop at the library and spend time with some four-legged friends! Children and their caregivers will have an opportunity to read with a licensed therapy animal. This program is made possible by Therapy Pets International and their volunteers. Recommended for kids in grades K-5.” Event is from 4-5 p.m. at CLP – Allegheny. Click here for more information.

UpPrize Finalist Showcase at Carnegie Science Center

“Come hear the five UpPrize BNY Mellon Social Innovation Challenge finalists compete for 300k in grants as they pitch and demonstrate their products! Following their pitches, the top three winners will be announced.” Click here for more information and to RSVP for free. Event is from 5 to 8 p.m.

International Women’s Day 2020 at Alloy 26

“In honor of International Women’s Day 2020, the same team that brought you TEDxPittsburghWomen is excited to host a special event at Alloy 26. Join…for coffee and refreshments to: – Discuss women’s initiatives through the lenses of TEDx – Continue the conversations started from TEDxWomen 2019 – Network and further explore the topics discussed at this event. Good Friday at The Andy Warhol Museum

“For a more social experience, The Warhol Museum is open until 10 p.m. on Fridays and offers half-price museum admission and a cash bar beginning at 5 p.m.” More information available here.

Saturday, March 7

Granting Us Justice Community Lab at CoLab18 in Nova Place

“Tabitha’s Daughters LLC & Higginbothan Collaboratives will hold two gatherings for women on Saturday, March 7th & Saturday March 28th, 2020 to examine and understand the Gender Equity Commission Report. Dr. Jessie Ramey of the GEC will be in attendance at the March 7th lab, as the guest speaker. Women in attendance will be given the opportunity to discuss and build our their solutions for combating the health, economic, housing, and education disparities in the city of Pittsburgh. Kara Rose Music Live at Adda Coffee & Tea House

Local singer/songwriter Kara Rose plays live from 7 to 8 p.m. at Adda Coffee & Tea House, located at 926 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233. More information available via Facebook.

�Jazz at Emmanuel �

“Where the spirited and the spiritual join together in a new kind of celebration!� Jazz Vespers incorporates a series of finger-snapping jazz meditations and stirring poetic or interpretive readings that celebrate everyone as beloved human beings before a benevolent and wondrous creator. A scriptural message and passing of the peace round out the celebration of the theme of the day. This not-to-be-missed, unique worship experience is one everyone will want to see and hear for themselves. Directed by Dr. James Johnson Jr. of the Afro-American Music Institute on piano, the Jazz ensemble includes guest bassists, Lou Schreiber on reeds, James Johnson III on drums, and Pamela Johnson on vocals, as well as occasional guest musicians. The Outsiders at New Hazlett Theater

“A stage play written by Christopher Sergel based upon the novel by S. E. Hinton. Directed by Scott P. Calhoon. Rusn from March 6-15, 2020. International Women’s Day | Pink Boots Brew Day & Karaoke at Penn Brewery

Celebrate International Women’s Day at Penn Brewery with two special events. “From 11-4 PM, you’re invited to watch from the restaurant as Pink Boots Society – Pittsburgh brews Virago’s Fury, a new India Pale Lager. You will also be able to learn more about the Pink Boots Society and help donate to the Pittsburgh Chapter. 🍻 From 7-9 PM, come enjoy a fun evening of Karaoke with DJ Chrissy Robinson in the Ratskeller.
