This weekend, celebrate Independence Day with your Northside neighbors at City View Church, Heinz Field, and Mayfly Market. Watch the fireworks at Fineview Overlook, then take part in the first annual Community Unity Day for Peace presented by Kitchen of Grace. All of this and more, this weekend in the Northside.

Thursday, July 4

4th of July Cookout with L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry

Join to celebrate with prizes and games and great food! When: Noon to 3 p.m. (Free lunch will be provided at 12:30 p.m.) Where: City View Church, 816 Tripoli St. RSVP: Call 412-302-1678 or tell a LIVING Ministry Staff member that you are coming.

Fourth of July at Heinz Field

Heinz Field is gearing up for their 18th annual Fourth of July Celebration. This year’s musical performances will be headlined by Country Music star Brandon Lay. Pittsburgh’s own Devon Allen Johnson and Ruff Creek will start the free concert series at 5 p.m before introducing local-favorite The Stickers. Brandon Lay will end the show after he takes the stage around 8 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive when the fun begins at 2 p.m. Admission for the yearly event and concert series is free. Pittsburgh residents and those of surrounding communities can expect a fun, safe and wallet-friendly way to enjoy family, friends and fireworks. Facebook event page has more information.

4th of July Fireworks Viewing at Fineview Overlook

Meet at the Fineview Overlook to watch the celebratory fireworks display. Fireworks start at 9:35 p.m.

Friday, July 5

Northside Farmers Market

Did you know the Citiparks Farmers Market accepts ACCESS cards? Check it out this and every Friday for the summer from 3 to 7 p.m. at Allegheny Commons Park at the corner of East Ohio Street and Cedar Avenue. Stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, cheese, baked goods, flowers, and more. For more information, head to the Facebook event page.

Good Friday at The Andy Warhol Museum

For a more social experience, The Warhol Museum is open until 10 p.m. on Fridays and offers half-price museum admission and a cash bar beginning at 5 p.m. More information available here.

Line On Some Trip/ Live From The City/ Franny Moon+Peace Corpse at The Government Center

Head to The Government Center record shop on East Ohio Street this Friday for live music. Line On Some Trip (Paris/ NYC) Hippie Punk/ Antifolk, Live From The City (PGH, PA) Hip-hop/ Rap, and Franny Moon (PGH, PA) Cosmic Rock/ Outlaw Country Doors at 7pm – Show starts at 8pm. $5- $10. 1st Annual Community Unity Day for Peace in the Streets

Presented by Kitchen of Grace & New Hope Church, this is a free community event day of games, food, and fellowship with Pittsburgh’s finest from the Zone 1 Police Department and live entertainment along with our local DJ, DJgirlquitplayin. Kids ages one to 16 eat free with ticket (until supplies last). Vendors are welcomed. A Free Community event to create peace and unity amongst our youth and police. Food, bounce, face painting, vendors of all kinds, and much more. Mayfly Market Independence Day Celebration

Join for some summer fun this Saturday at the Mayfly Market and Deli! Grilling hot dogs, hamburgers, and vegan muffuletta sandwiches from 11 until 4. So come on by for this special occasion, grab a bite from the grill, enjoy a cup of sorbet, and enjoy a summer day with your neighbors. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information available via Facebook.

Surf Rock on a Summer Night at Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden

The Killifish will be making music at the Garden from 7-9 pm. There’s a food truck, dogs are welcome, and cocktails with Wigle’s award-winning spirits plus local beers and ciders are available to quench your thirst. And there’s no cover charge – all ages are welcome to come and hang out all night for free. More information available here.

Party & Paint at Young Brothers Bar

Keith, Jamie, Ms. BJ and Clinetta will host their 2nd Paint Nite in the newly designed Event Center. Each paid reservation will receive a free drink and be eligible to win prizes. Arrive 15-20 minutes early to get aprons on & in your seat! If you desire more time to unwind, visit with friends & breathe before we get twisted, arrive up to 30 minutes prior to start time. Tailgate & Pride Day at PNC Park

Join the Pirates and supporters of the LGBT Community at PNC Park for the third annual Pride Day. The Pirates are playing the Milwaukee Brewers with a start time at 1:35 p.m. Each ticket includes a special Pirates Pride Day cap. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased here. DTC Organ Trio at City of Asylum

Join City of Asylum for an evening of jazz with the DTC Organ Trio! DTC, musical collective formed by musicians David “Throck” Throckmorton (drums), Dan Wilson (guitar), and Cliff Barnes (organ). The group was formed by chance in the winter of 2014 when the trio played one unrehearsed show and discovered a rare and exciting chemistry. DTC plays a variety of genres including jazz, funk, gospel, R&B, Brazilian music, Afro-Cuban, Blues, Pop, and many other styles. Event is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. More information can be found here.
