Northsider’s Guide for Easter Essentials

With Lenten season wrapping up Fish Fry Friday dinners, here’s where to pick up Easter staples for your holiday gatherings at Northside businesses.

There is still time to head over to a Northside Fish Fry at St. Peter’s Parish from 4PM-6PM (today only) at Our Lady Queen of Peach Church while Riverview Presbyterian’s Lenten Fish Fry from 11AM-8:30PM and Allegheny Elks Lodge #339 from 6:00PM-8:30PM run today and Good Friday on April 19th.

The Main Course

Bistro To Go 

Relax with family and friends while Bistro To Go catering handles all the details to your meal. With five main meals to choose from including glazed ham with pineapple sauce and Florentine vegetable lasagna, plus traditional and unique sides, salads, and desserts. Pick up available Friday, April 19th and Saturday, April 20th at their Historic Deutschtown location. Tom Friday’s Market

Northside’s one and only traditional butcher shoppe located in Brighton Heights’ California Avenue business district. Locally sourced hams of all sizes include the popular Amish hams with bone-in and McKees Rock’s Silverstar brand semi-boneless hams that can be ordered fully cooked with cherries and a pineapple glaze. Other family favorite’s are their homemade Easter fresh kielbasa that also comes in smoked or Croatian flavors, homemade pierogies and Easter bread. Pick up and home delivery available through Saturday, April 20th. Priory Fine Pastries

Baking up tradition in Historic Deutschtown, find Easter Paska bread at Priory Fine Pastries only available Friday, April 19th and Saturday, April 20th. Order ahead for their famed carrot cake or cupcakes, Easter egg sugar cookies and iced Easter egg cookies, plus flower gourmet cupcakes and nut rolls for the table. BreadWorks

The ovens in Marshall-Shadeland’s only independent bakery have been heating it up for 40 years with classic, no-preservative fresh baked breads. Easter specials include Sweet Egg Bread, Buccelatto, and limited heat/serve dinner rolls. From buns to focaccias, their retail store right inside the bakery is open to the public for special order pick-up and walk-in orders. The retail store will be open for walk-ins at 8 AM and advanced orders will be available at 9 AM until 2PM on Saturday, April 20th. Chateau Cafe & Cakery

Every scone and cookie is made from scratch at Chateau, ensuring fresh tasty treats every time. The cafe is open Monday – Friday 7AM – 2PM for lunch, breakfast, and picking up custom orders. Known for their delicious Northside inspired cupcakes, custom cakes and pies, also check out their neighborhood inspired selection of cookies, like Riverview Chocolate Chip, which can also be made gluten free. Drinks & Desserts

Arnold’s Tea

Ease into the evening after a good meal and good company with a cup of great tea. Arnold’s Tea in Historic Deutschtown offers loose-leaf teas including basics like English Breakfast, signature blends like Peach Apple Cobbler, and an assortment of green, black, Tisanes, Pu’Erh, and Oolong varieties to choose from. Open Monday – Friday 8AM – 7PM and Saturday 8AM – 2PM to stop in for tea time at the cafe, at home, and on the go. Visit their website for drink and food menus here.

Kaffeehaus

East Deutschtown’s anchor coffee shop on Chestnut Street serves cups o’ joe, laughter, and handmade sweets. Chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate peanut butter pretzels, chocolate covered marshmellows and oreos -which also come in fun colors and sometimes emojis! Plus gourmet pastries, cookies, and more in store. Open Tuesday – Friday 6:30AM – 2:30PM and Saturday 8AM – 2PM to pick up a box of sweet things for the Easter baskets.
