It’s a weekend primed for Northside artists, intellectuals and foodies: Don’t miss the Tree of Life Memorial Reading at City Books featuring writers Adriana Ramirez, Tuhin Das and Kevin Haworth, Prime Stage’s Of Mice and Men at the New Hazlett Theater and a special grand opening of Mayfly Market & Deli.

Thursday, Nov. 8

Printmaking Open Studio at Artists Image Resource (AIR)

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m., AIR offers a Printmaking Open Studio for experienced screen printers working on short-run projects that can be completed in one evening. A small materials fee applies. For more information, visit the AIR website.

Sembène Film & Arts Fest: The Gentle Giant at Alphabet City

A book review and discussion of Yusef Lateef: The Gentle Giant, the autobiography of Jazz icon Yusef Lateef, a world-renown and major influence in Hard Bop, Be Bop, World Music and other genres. Lateef was a Grammy Award-wining, multi-instrumentalist, composer, poet, educator and visionary. Book discussion will be led by book co-writer, Herb Boyd. Screening of The Chelsea Girls at The Warhol Theater

In celebration of the new publication, Andy Warhol’s The Chelsea Girls, edited and with text by museum film curators Geralyn Huxley and Greg Pierce, is a free screening of Warhol’s epic double-screen masterpiece The Chelsea Girls in a new digital film transfer. Before the screening there will be a book signing with Huxley and Pierce in The Warhol Store from 6 to 7 p.m. Register for a free ticket on the Warhol website.

The Grinch 3D at The Rangos Giant Cinema

Kick off the holiday season with a ticket to The Grinch 3D, based on Dr. Seuss’ holiday classic, playing at the Carnegie Science Center’s Rangos Giant Cinema. Saturday, Nov. 10

Tree of Life Memorial Reading at City Books

Reflect and grieve with fellow Pittsburghers in the aftermath of the Tree of Life shootings. $5 suggested donation. Event is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Proceeds go to HIAS, formerly known as the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. For a list of readers and more information, visit the Facebook event page.

8th Annual Deutschtown Bar Crawl

Chateau Street Mulching Party

Join the Manchester Tree Tenders and Tree Pittsburgh from 9 a.m. to noon to weed, mulch, adjust stakes, get to

Return of the Grinch! at Wagsburgh

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., have your pet’s picture taken with the Grinch. Donations will benefit Angel Ridge Animal Rescue and Joey’s Prosthetics and Wheel (PAW). More information available via Facebook.

Grand Opening: Mayfly Market & Deli

On Saturday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 11, Allegheny City Historic Gallery will display its Northside Streetcar Collection of images of eras including the 50s and 60s for the grand opening of Mayfly Market & Deli, the “Northside’s newest full-service deli.” More information available on the Allegheny City Historic Gallery website. Of Mice and Men at The New Hazlett Theater

Prime Stage Theatre, known for bringing literature to the stage, opens its newest, “Courage”-themed season, with this classic tearjerker at the New Hazlett Theater. Sunday’s 2:30 p.m. performance is the closing performance of this play. Tickets prices range from $12 to $25. For all performance times and more information, visit the Prime Stage Theatre website.
