The last full weekend in August offers Northsiders a little Thursday night trivia, community barbecue and the last hurrah of BikeFest 2017.

Thursday, August, 24

Trivia Night at Allegheny City Brewing

The Deutschtown watering hole will be hosting its monthly trivia night 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free, the brews – unfortunately – are not. For more information visit the ACB’s FB page.

Drink + Ink Happy Hour

Another Deutschtown event co-hosted by Radiant Hall and Artist Image Resource. The event is free and runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. AIR will host screen printing sessions and beverages will be provided by the aforementioned Allegheny City Brewing. Friday, August, 25

Billiu’s Indian Grill food truck at Commonplace Coffee MWS

It is the last Friday in August which means it is Billu’s last stop in their summer series at the Mexican War Streets coffee shop. Swing by 11 a..m to 2 p.m. for some delicious grub.

North Shore Public Art Tour

As part of BikeFest’s final week of activities the two-hour long tour starts on the North Shore and will travel along the Allegheny River trail to Millvale examining the artwork of Ann Tarantino. The tour starts at 6 p.m. outside of the Carnegie Science Center. For more information visit bikepgh.org.

Recognition Luncheon at Teutonia Männerchor

The German Alliance of Pittsburgh will be hosting a fundraising luncheon at noon at their East Deutschtown location. Teutonia Männerchor celebrates Bavarian traditions and promoting German hertiage within the community. For more information on the event or on the German Alliance of Pittsburgh visit their website.

Scenic Pittsburgh Bike Ride

Bicycle Heaven is hosting the casual, photogenic 12-mile ride through Pittsburgh. The event is part of BikeFest 2017 and begins at Bicycle Heaven in Chateau at 11 a.m. For more information visit bikepgh.org.

 

Sunday, August 27

The Gateway Mosiac

Perry Hilltop and Fineview Unity Gateway Celebration

The Perry Hilltop and Fineview Citizens Councils will be celebrating the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Gateway Mosiac Mural. The event will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (ribbon cutting is at noon), light refreshments will be provided, music from DJ Slow Danger and kids can meet the goats of Allegheny Goatscape. Festivities will be held on Unity Corner at the intersections of Federal Street and lower Perrsyville Avenue. For more information visit the event’s FB page.

Fineview Community Picnic

Following the Gateway Mosiac’s celebration a community picnic will be held at Fineview Community Park 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Food will be provided by the Fineview Citizens Council but visitors are encouraged to bring a side or desert with them. More information is available on the event’s FB page.
