Kindergarten transition events at Spring Hill, M.L.King schools

Parents of children entering kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year are invited to bring their children to Ready Freddy ‘Kindergarten Transition Events’ at Spring Hill School located at 1351 Damas Street, and at M.L.King School, located at 50 Montgomery Place, both on the Northside. The Spring Hill event will be held on Thursday, May 15th from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m., and the M. L. King event will be held on Thursday, May 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Activities include opportunities for families to meet teachers and administrators, tour the school buildings and learn more about the upcoming kindergarten year. Parents who have not enrolled their children in kindergarten can do so at the events. Any child who will be 5 years old before September 30th is eligible to enroll for kindergarten. In order to complete the enrollment process, parents should bring their child’s birth certificate (or other proof of birth), their child’s immunization records and two proofds of address (utility bill, driver’s license, tax return, or state ID).

Refreshments will be provided and families will be able to visit a kindergarten classroom, talk with a teacher and enjoy fun activities. The event is designed to help make the transition to kindergarten easier and less stressful for children and parents alike.

To RSVP, parents should call Spring Hill School at (412) 323-3000, or M. L. King School at (412) 323-4160.
