The Northside Leadership Conference Bike/Ped Committee was named the Advocacy Group of the Year last week by Bike PGH.

The award shows the impact the NSLC Bike/Ped Committee has had in the last year while they have advocated for safe bicycling and increased signage on the Northside.

“We encourage people to ride their bikes,” said committee member Emily Leone Honhart. “We want them to feel safe while doing so.”

The committee is attempting to make more of an impact in the months to come by providing additional signs for bike paths and neighborhood parks.

The Bike Committee plans to continue working with city officials and neighborhood groups to provide safety regulations for bike riders on the Northside.

Recently the committee received a $500 grant from the PNC Neighborhood Wish List, which they plan to use on providing tools to fix underprivileged kids’ bikes.
