Here at The Northside Chronicle, we’re wishing a very happy birthday to Andy Warhol!

Our neighbors at the Warhol Museum are celebrating what would have been Andy’s 84th birthday by unveiling a new interactive experience on the sixth floor of the museum that recreates Warhol’s famous screen tests.

From 1964 to 1966, Warhol created over 500 screen tests with visitors to his studio, including celebrities like Salvador Dali and Edie Sedgwick.

To recreate these screen tests, the Warhol has placed a vintage-style camera in a gallery reminiscent of Warhol’s Silver Factory studio where museum visitors can create their own screen test utilizing vintage technology and computer touch screen.

Visitors’ screen tests will be digitally transformed to slow motion and put online at screentest.warhol.org where they can be shared using social media.

“In a most Warholian gesture, we are riding the wave of innovation and new technologies in launching this fun and exciting interactive feature that will allow our guests to achieve their own 15 minutes of fame here at The Andy Warhol Museum,” said Eric Shiner, director of The Warhol. “It is our core mission to promote and share the work of Andy Warhol with our global audience, and I am thrilled to see what conversations emerge thanks to this cool new project.”
