Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
New Exhibit: Wheels
February 18 – May 18, 2012
You’ve heard of tire swings and merry-go-rounds, but you’ve never seen wheels quite like this!
On February 18, 2012 a new exhibit, Wheels, opened at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. The exhibit features a 7-foot-high tire sculpture that visitors can climb and explore; a vintage 1970 Harley Davidson motorcycle; and a vehicle track with 8 different vehicles including bikes, rickshaws, pump-cars and scooters. Visitors to the museum can also build their own tire using bungee cords and wooden rims before testing it on an inclined track, or use their legs to power a treadmill and activate the spinning tire sculpture overhead.
Finally, the exhibit features a magnetic car park, where visitors of all ages can indulge their inner tinkerer and create unique vehicles using roller blade wheels and magnetic blocks. So if you believe there’s no fun to be had in reinventing the wheel, come to the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, now through May 18, 2012—and see for yourself!
