Northside nonprofit seeks runners for 2012 Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon

Urban Impact, a North Side nonprofit serving kids and families, is a charity partner for the marathon in May, and is actively recruiting runners at this time.

Runners choose one of the 6 different marathon events and make a commitment to collect donations to sponsor their runs, all to help Urban Impact change lives on the North Side of Pittsburgh. Urban Impact will pay runners’ marathon registration fees out of their committed donations, and everyone who signs up gets the chance to make a free fundraising webpage.

Those who don’t want to run the race may sign up to be a virtual runner and simply seek donations on behalf of the organization.

Interested parties are encouraged to sign up now or find more information at www.UIF2012Marathon.Kintera.org. The organization is taking signups now through February 20th for those who want to participate in the race. Virtuals can sign up until April 20th.

The Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon will take place on May 6th, 2012.

For questions, call Cindy Dell at 412-321-3811 x 120. For more information on Urban Impact, visit www.UrbanImpactPittsburgh.org.
