BORN TO BE WILD TO DEBUT AT CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTER JAN. 20

Latest IMAX® Documentary Narrated by Morgan Freeman

From Carnegie Science Center– Join Carnegie Science Center on a heart-warming adventure of second chances when Born to be Wild opens on Friday, Jan. 20, at the Rangos Omnimax Theater – Pittsburgh’s biggest screen. The film follows young orphaned elephants and orangutans on the trip of a lifetime, from birth to their rebirth into the wild.  This family-friendly documentary will transport moviegoers to the far stretches of Kenya and Borneo and may prompt them to take action to save Earth’s precious creatures.

Narrated by Academy-Award® winner Morgan Freeman, Born to be Wild is an inspiring story of love, dedication, and the remarkable bond between humans and animals. This film documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them—saving endangered species one life at a time.  Stunningly captured in IMAX, Born to be Wild tells the heartwarming story of world-renowned primatologist Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas, who rescues orphaned orangutans in the lush rainforests of Borneo, and celebrated elephant authority Dame Daphne M. Sheldrick, who cares for orphaned elephants in the rugged Kenyan savannah. Both women nurture, rehabilitate, and return these incredible animals back to the wild.

“Spending so much time among the orphaned elephants and orangutans in this film was a life- changing experience,” said Producer/Writer Drew Fellman. “And IMAX makes it possible to share that wonder with the audience in a very profound way that takes us directly into the lives and struggles of these amazing animals.”

The film has been rated G and has a run time of 40 minutes. Cost of tickets for members of Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh is $7 for adults and $5 for children; tickets for nonmembers cost $8 for adults and $6 for children. For show times, visit CarnegieScienceCenter.org or call 412.237.3400.
