The Warhol Museum of the Northside is welcoming a new exhibit, “Pittsburgh Biennial – Getrude’s/Lot.” The exhibit features 22 female artists who emulate those famous women who called Pittsburgh home.
Gertrude Stein, the exhibits namesake, was born in the area in 1874. She made herself famous as a poet, writer and art collector, and she was once featured in a Picasso painting, “Portrait of Gertrude Stein.”
Today, Pittsburgh continues to be the birthplace of talented women in the realm of art. The Warhol assembled this exhibit to feature those women who emulate the works of Stein.
The work will span all forms of media, and will run from now until January 8, 2012.
The exhibit is curated by Eric Shiner, the director of the Warhol.
The Warhol Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Friday from 10AM to 10 PM.
