Northside literary nonprofit seeks donations for annual campaign
City of Asylum/Pittsburgh hopes to meet its fund raising goal of $20,000 by tomorrow, Jan. 15 in order to receive a matching grant of $50,000.
As of yesterday, the literary nonprofit that gives asylum to persecuted and exiled writers need $2,450 more to reach its goal of $20,000, said President Henry Reese in a newsletter.
“It will make a big difference in our ability to support exiled writers,” Reese said in the newsletter.
In addition to providing residencies to writers who are unable to write freely in their home countries, City of Asylum holds free readings with international authors and the annual Jazz Poetry Concert and publishes the free online magazine Sampsonia Way.
