Money raised will provide free kayak day for Pittsburgh youth and families

What: Pittsburgh teens will contribute to Global Youth Service Day on Saturday, April 25 through nrg Powered by Pittsburgh – a community-wide Ultimate Frisbee tournament raising money to improve access to outdoor recreation opportunities for youth and families. The tournament is hosted by the Penn State Hershey Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion (Center) and is Highmark Healthy High 5, a children’s health promotion initiative of the Highmark Foundation. Teens from the Pittsburgh High School

Ultimate League (PHUL) will manage the tournament.

One-hundred percent of the money raised from the tournament will be donated to Venture Outdoors, a local non-profit organization

seeking to increase the Pittsburgh region’s participation in outdoor recreational activity. Venture Outdoors will use the money to host a

free kayak day for youth and families at Allegheny Commons, Lake Elizabeth on Saturday, June 6.

Families and friends are invited to attend and participate in a community health fair and activities including free health screenings from

Kindred Hospital; climbing wall and geocaching from Venture Outdoors, and Frisbee®-related contests from PHUL.
