The Northside has new sandwich royalty!

Last month the Modern Café’s Irene Zotis was crowned Sandwich Queen in the Northside Leadership Conference’s second annual Sandwich Week.

The Modern Café took the crown with their Spicy Sicilian, and James Street Gastropub and Speakeasy came in second place with their pulled pork and slaw sliders.

This year 13 restaurants participated in Northside Sandwich Week, which is meant to showcase the tasty sandwiches and dining options on the Northside.

All of the restaurants faced off on June 20th at the Elks Lodge for the sandwich sampler. Guests enjoyed a sample of each sandwich and Penn Brewery beer and voted on their favorite sandwiches.

The sampler also featured celebrity judges Steeler Louis Lipps, food blogger Julia Gongaware, WYEP host Joey Spehar, singer Etta Cox and KDKA’s Jon Delano.

Check out the sandwiches below!
