Sandusky St. and the main rotunda entrances at AGH are expected to close this month until further notice

By: Neil Strebig

Starting Monday, May 14 at 5 a.m. the entrance to the Sandusky Street parking garage at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) will be closed due to construction, according to Allegheny Health Network personnel.

The closure is a result of the first phase of construction on the new $80 million Cancer Institute Academic Center. Sandusky St. will be closed at the intersections of Hemlock St. and East North Avenue. Visitors will be able to park at the James St. parking garage or use the valet service to drop-off patients near the Sandusky St. entrance.

Further closures are expected on Monday, May 21 when the main rotunda entrance at AGH will close along with the right lane of E. North Ave. The James St. parking garage and valet service will remain active, however, no official re-opening date has been announced.

Additional signage will be on site to help inform visitors, motorists, patients and employees of the closures and detour routes.
