Tonight at 7 p.m. at the Pressley Street High Rise, the East Allegheny Community Council will host Duquesne Light for a public meeting on their plans for controversial new infrastructure in the neighborhood.

EACC Board Member Lynn Glorieux said a representative from Duquesne Light will present its current plans and ideas for a structure that would be part of a city-wide electrical system update.

As of 1 p.m. this afternoon EACC planned on holding the meeting despite a winter weather advisory in effect until Thursday, but community members who would like to confirm may call President Bernie Beck at 412-720-3656.

Originally the utility wanted to put the substation in Allegheny Commons Park, but community outcry has made that action difficult, and it is now considering other options.

After Duquesne Light gives a presentation on its plans, community members will have a chance to comment on the plan and voice their own ideas.
